Re: Shar Pei Love Stories
Thu, January 22, 2004 - 7:23 PMMy first Pei, Ming-Lee, is one for sure! The family went to an auction for video games in Nashville TN. At the auction a breeder came in with this tiny squirming bundle of wrinkles. My daughter fell in love and so did I if I'm honest about it. It was either bring this little girl home, or give up my daughter! How's that for a love story?? -

Fri, January 23, 2004 - 4:06 PMDiane,
My late Ming-Lee was bad about stealing babies form other mom's! But when she started letting kittens nurse I thought I would die laughing!!! The kitties were still under 3 weeks but had their eyes open, and Ming would take one or two of them up on the couch and growl at their mother when she tried to get them back! I had to put them in the box with mom, but as soon as they climbed out again Ming would Kitten-nap them again! That litter would almost bark!!! LOLOLOLOL!!!!!!

Sun, April 18, 2004 - 11:04 AMGus is part Pei and the love of his life is pure Pei. ( Oh and there is a cat that is in love with Gus too....Winslow). Both are rescues from Mexico. When the Baja Animal Sanctuary found them they looked really nasty.....Demadec the works. after I fostered them and adopted Gus, good friends adopted...Wrinkles (Daisy). They are sleek, silly personality dogs.
I will post a great pic of the 2 of them as soon as I can! Meanwhile there is a pic of Gus and I loooking pensive in my pix.
Whew...long intro. Hi everyone!

Re: Shar Pei Love Stories
Wed, May 5, 2004 - 9:49 AMmy sister saved 175$ for a dog of her own, mom and dad to match half, for a shar pei... and dad went to take us to look at some pups. she found the perfect one, and home with us she came. the whole way home, dad was pissed off, saying"g-d shar f'n pei... ugliest f'n dog i ever seen!" that night, we set out newspaper in the kitchen for her and blocked her in, went to bed. when i woke up, i went out to the kitchen for some juice, and lo and behold, there was dad, on the floor with the little wrinkle monster that we would know as pearl for the next 13 years. she ended up being his favorite dog to date. -

Re: Shar Pei Love Stories
Wed, April 6, 2005 - 2:35 AMSuch sweet stories. Our little daughter as we call her, has brought so much joy to us .
Maddie is Shar-Pei Boxer mix. She is very intune with feelings. If you cry she will lick your tears, and give a hug. Maddie loves group hugs. Trully a magical creature. At times she is very stubborn. Her favorite games are wrestle mania, and find pinkie. We got her at the local animal shelter.
My fiance talked me into "looking" at puppies. We had her cage opened, and she came spilling out face first. Without a lelp she jumped on Rebecca, giving her face kisses. When we took her outside, she recognized my whistle. There we several hang ups in getting her, but with modern technology, she came home with us. As soon as she got out of the car she ran the perimeter, and went right to the front door. Ms maddie has touched our lives with pure love. At our house she is looked up to for these qualities. Having her has made us all grow into better people. I look forward to hearing other stories.

Re: Shar Pei Love Stories
Wed, June 14, 2006 - 8:58 PMI can't tell if anyone is active in this tribe but I thought I would give it a go.
My little Maggie Mae came from the pound. They know her Mother was Shar Pei and don't know what the rest of her is. She is a little over 5 months. She is black and brindle. The vet and her trainer and many others, think she is part pitt. She is lovable, cute, smart, spastic, hyper, funny. She loves everyone. I can't say enough good about her. She loves to cuddle. I read up on Shar pei and was expecting her to be stubborn and leary of other animals and strangers but that has not happened.
She is a very good companion for older dog Shaver (7 years) who found him self alone when our 13 yr old Chow Alex died, the next year my Collie ( Woody, 9 yrs) died (can't talk about it yet) and then the next year our rescued dog Racheal (Lab mix) died of a seziure. The day after Racheal passed we went to find Shaver a playmate. We work many hours and it's not fair for him to be alone (the cat Annabell does not count, she won't play). Maggie wears him out that's for sure but he loves her and it forces him to exercise. He is getting chunkey.
Anyway I thought I would join a Shar Pei group and a pitt group and see want information I would get on the breeds. It has been all good so far.
Have a wonderful day, Sheila -

Mon, June 19, 2006 - 12:54 PMNice story... Looking at the pics of your doggie, i dont think she looks a bit pit. Somehow people see some of the features of a shar-pei as pit. -

Re: Shar Pei Love Stories
Mon, June 19, 2006 - 3:47 PMHer head is just so little compared to all the Shar Pei pictures I have seen. She has the wide eyes but a skinny little snout, well not really skinny just not like a Shar Pei. I don't know what else she is but I love her so much. She is so sweet and smart. I tried post a picture in the album here and it did not work like in the other tribes.
Have a great day, Sheila
